Skip
A large, transportable, open top, (usually metal and yellow) container that you throw large refuse items in. On campus this might be found outside wood workshops.
“I hate this artwork so much, I’m putting it in the skip”
“I saw some big sheets of acrylic in the skip the other day and a chair. They would be perfect for my next artwork”

Spinning Wheel of Death
This is the spinning circular rainbow symbol your Mac cursor changes too when your computer is needing a moment to process. During the spinning wheel of death you won’t know what is going to happen next.
“Oh no, I didn’t save my work and now I have the spinning wheel of death. What’s should I do?”
“I got the spinning wheel of death and then my computer crashed”

Spin-off
A "Spin-Off" – usually used in TV, Radio, Video Games but can apply to Art – It is derived from already existing works that focus on more details and different aspects from the original work, and connects to my love of cover singles and homages of existing art pieces. It is also the title of one of my favourite Artist Books, "Spin-Off" by Telfer Stokes and Helen Douglas published by Weproductions. The book uses the visual devise of car windscreen wipers, which when wiping enable the viewer to see the road and the developing events in the book ahead, however not well enough to avoid a collision with a motorcyclist. On collision, everything turns upside down and leads to a new sense of time and space floating loose.
“What would the Spin-Off of Better Call Saul be called?”

Spoof
A spoof is usually an imitation of something created as a joke. It may mimic an original artwork, film, or performance, in a way that is humorous.
“Part of the comedy sketch was a spoof of the BBC Evening News”
“The artist created spoof movie trailers which humorously critiqued real world situations”

Studio
A studio is a place where an artist might work, write, research, think and meet. A studio can take any form and size. This could be a rented room, within an established studio building run by an arts organisation. A studio can also be a converted bedroom, shed, alcove, phone, shoebox or exist within one's mind. There are no set rules. The most important consideration regarding a studio is where do you feel most comfortable and inspired to work?
“I share a studio with three former classmates. We share ideas, research and clash over communal music!”
